Did you recently receive a Copyright Infringement notice from your ISP? Are you scared that you might get one? Here’s how to not get caught by your ISP for torrenting your favorite Music, Video Games or TV shows (Game of Thrones).

Most digital media is protected by copyrights that force you to buy it to claim ownership of it. Sometimes it’s not possible to buy because either it’s not available in your region or you are unable to pay for it. There are some steps you can take to make sure your ISP does not notice your torrenting habit.

> How To Not Get Caught By Your ISP For Torrenting: Proxy

First of all, get a good proxy or VPN for your network or browser (in the case of Google Chrome or Firefox). Just search for some proxies or VPNs on Google and you’ll be presented with a wide array of both paid and free alternatives. Choose any one! There is no perfect proxy/VPN. So, find one that suits your needs. Alternatively, check out Kali Tutorial’s list of approved Chrome or Firefox extensions.

Go to Chrome Webstore and search for some proxies.

Why do you need a proxy/VPN to hide torrents from your ISP? The proxy or VPN that you configure and use will hide your data transfers from your ISP as it uses some network architecture to reroute your data through their servers. This way your ISP do not know what kind of data you are moving. Of course, this is a very basic definition of proxies or VPNs but it’ll have to do for now.

> How To Not Get Caught By Your ISP For Torrenting: Online Service

Now here comes the fun part! You will not download torrent files directly using your torrent client (e.g. BitTorrent or Transmission). Strange right? What you will do is that you will use an online torrent download and storage service.

Websites like Quick Torrent and Boxopus allow you to download your torrents to their server and store it their, temporarily or indefinitely. We can take one such web service as an example.

FileStream.me is an online torrent downloading service.

The online torrent downloading service I use to hide my torrenting from my ISP is FileStream.me. It’s free, fast and has a bearable data cap. Just copy and paste the magnet link of the torrent you want to download and then click Download. The file will download to their server (takes approximately 1 minute) and then you can download the file to your PC.

Enjoy!
