OR you can try the manual method below which is very time consuming.
This is an issue that some Android users face when trying to flash a new custom ROM on their rooted Android smartphone. While flashing, the installation suddenly stops and you are presented with an error: E:Error executing updater binary in zip
> Solve Error Executing Updater Binary In Zip
So, what is the solution the error faced while executing the updater binary? Thankfully, the solution is very simple! The solution works for any Android smartphone and for any ROM.
> Solve Error Executing Updater Binary In Zip: Steps
If you are using TWRP:
- Advance Wipe > Wipe cache, data, system, dalvik partitions.
- Select ZIP file of your ROM and flash it.
- You will get
E:Error executing updater binary in zip
(Don’t panic!) - Go to Reboot menu > Select Reboot to recovery.
- After rebooting in recovery, flash the ZIP file of the ROM again WITHOUT WIPING.
After doing the above steps, reboot your Android smartphone. Voila! Enjoy your new ROM. Sometimes, you will get the error despite following this tutorial. This could mean that your ROM was not downloaded properly.
I want to hear what your experiences are with this fix. Did it work for you?

Well, it didn’t work for me, but I was trying to flash CM12 to my XT926. I did the steps, but that didn’t work. So I thought maybe I needed to flash Gapps for Lollipop as I am on KK 4.4.4. None of it helped. I ent to reboot as instructed and it said “root access has been lost. Do you want to install to restore root?” [or something like that]. That was the only option it gave me. So I did that (as my phone has been rooted for years) and then when it rebooted itself, it got stuck on the “Bootloader is unlocked” screen. I had to try a few times to hold power + vol up/down to get the menu to restore. Any ideas? I was so excited, and it worked for you all. Now I am back at Square One, thankfully it restored, so all is not lost but I am confused….suggestions welcome.

This isn’t working for me. I have the note 4 N910T. This happens to me with every custom rom after I installed cm12. I’ve tried reinstalling the kernal, rom, changing the TWRP version. I even flashed the original rom and rooted again. Any suggestions?
